Toxic-Free Shopping

by Polly N on December 12, 2010

If like me, you still haven’t started Christmas shopping, or have that one person which you just have no idea what to buy, then Love Lula could be your saviour! If you’ve read my article on all the hideous chemicals companies put in their “beauty” products, then you’ll know that I’m not a fan. Not at all. I mean who want’s to put petrol by-products on their skin AND get poisoned by it? Not me. Would you put it on your baby or child? No? But people do!

I can’t emphasise how important it is that you don’t put anything on your skin that you wouldn’t put in your mouth. Just because you can’t see or feel the negative effects it’s having on your body doesn’t mean that it’s not doing you harm. Phthalates are found in most off the shelf products and have been linked to decreased fertility in females and faulty reproductive development in male foetuses. Formaldehyde, often used in shampoos and deoderants, is carinogenic meaning it causes cancer. Do you want to run the risk?

Some people justify that their use of whatever toxic product they are using is only once or twice a week and that they eat “healthy”. Well that may be the case, but it all adds up and don’t forget it’s not only the chemicals your body is absorbing but the elecromagenetic smog from mobile phones and computers; air pollution (not just outside but inside from MDF, furniture polish, carpets etc), the pesticides that non-organic food harbors and so on. And I could go on.

The truth is that unfortunately these companies are allowed to add these disgusting chemicals that are linked to all sorts of degenerative diseases and get away with it. So it is up to us to take control and decide whether we want to live a long and healthy life or whether we are willing to compromise our health for the sake of a few extra quid.

You may look beautiful on the outside but inside you could be rotting.

This is quite a harsh statement but I want you to realise that it’s not just about what you eat. It’s about what you put in and on your body, what you drink and what you think (ie negative vs positive).

My intention is for you not to read this and feel disheartened that there’s “no way I can eliminate ALL of the toxins I’m taking in”. And you’re right to a certain extent as you can’t control all factors but you can control, I’ll say it again; what you put in and on your body, what you drink, what you think and what chemicals you bring into your home (bleach, oven cleaner, toilet cleaner, hairspray, carpet cleaner, aerosol deoderant, mouthwash…..etc)

I’m not ranting. I’m just just giving you as much information as possible so you can make your own decision. I’m trying to inform you so you can help you save your own life and live life with your health and happiness in tact.

It doesn’t mean turning your life upside. I advocate make changes gradually; as you finish one product, buy a chemical-free one to replace it. Go round your home and make a note of what’s not working for you, in terms of clutter and chemical build-up. You never know, you might actually feel better for it!

I don’t give presents to anyone that I wouldn’t use myself so if you really want to give something nice, do some toxic-free shopping and give someone a gift that may actually prolong their life as well as pamper them from the inside out visit my fave site LoveLula. Happy shopping!
