Foods For Life Event

By now, you probably know that I am passionate about spreading the word of prevention. Not just prevention from cancer but diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis, heart disease – you name it. Chronic disease SUCKS. And what you put in AND on your body makes a BIG difference as to whether you actually develop that illness or disease or not. You are NOT your genes. Just because you may be genetically more pre-disposed to developing an illness doesn’t mean that it’s a given. So next time you think “Ah sod it, I’m screwed anyway”…think again.

When a shitstorm of a diagnosis blows in, it can be overwhelming, frustrating, upsetting and seriously scary. When I was first diagnosed aged 24, I had no clue about what I should have been doing to support my body going through chemo and radiotherapy and I certainly wasn’t receiving much guidance from my oncologists as to what I should be eating and more importantly what I shouldn’t have been eating!

I can’t tell you how many people that I speak to that just don’t have any idea that some of their much loved foods that they consume often and in some cases, everyday are in fact providing the cancer cells that have taken up residence in their body with the PERFECT environment in which to grow. Yes, GROW!!!

So, to help re-educate those in need and because our education systems and government are doing little to spread the message of prevention through diet and lifestyle, I have teamed up with one of my favourite integrative cancer charities Yes To Life to help bring the message home.

We will be holding a talk and would love you to come so that you can equip yourself with the knowledge you need to stay well;

Sounds wonderful. I am still shocked that the hospital gives ensure. Having lost a friend this summer, I just had to bite my tongue, as it seems like people don’t believe anything unless their doctor tells them something. So I just mention something once, in a passing way, just to throw it out there. But unless a doctor says to do it, then it seems difficult for someone not already into different ways to heal, or even integrative care-to truly believe. Thanks for all of your work!
