12 Foods You Should Buy Organic

by Polly N on May 3, 2012

Last year I uploaded a blog post detailing the Environmental Working Group’s list of the cleanest vegetables and the most pesticide-ridden. And I just recently noticed that this list has changed slightly so I wanted to update you so that you make informed decisions around which foods you buy organic and which you buy conventional. I know that for some it’s simply not possible to eat all organic so if that applies to you, then having this list to hand will help you to reduce the number of nasties you’re ingesting.

The Dirty Dozen outlines the fruits and veggies that are sprayed the most from 1-12 and the Clean Fifteen lists those that have the least pesticides.

For more info on this you can visit the Environmental Working Group’S website.

Have you started eating more organic? If so, have you noticed a difference in how you feel or the taste of your food?

Thanks for this information Polly. Can you recommend any supplements for a vegan diet. I’ve heard that brewers yeast is good–would you agree?

Hey Beth, here are some of the best supplements to take when vegan: vitamin B12 (as methylcobalamin), probiotics, multi-vitamin, vegan DHA+EPA, vitamin D (I prefer D2 because it’s vegan and effective). I frequently take: digestive enzymes, chlorella, magnesium, vitamin K2 but its also important to vary and keep evolving with your own personal needs. Brewers yeast is a no for me. x
