Got Milk? Drop Milk!

by Polly N on October 12, 2012

Before I began my studies in nutrition, I had no idea just how nasty milk really is. The adverts on tv told me that it was a good source of calcium and that I needed it for strong bones. So who was I to question it? But the truth is, there are many reasons why milk is unhealthy and is causing a host of inflammatory problems from IBS to allergies to promoting the growth of cancer cells. Naaaasty!

Got Milk?

Instead, why not make your own nut milk? It’s quick and super easy!

What a simple way to show the potential harm of dairy. Since getting this cancer rubbish I’m always looking for simple explanations of complicated matters, so this is great. Just a pity the best information seems to be on US sites, so not all of it relevant in the UK (I read that the growth hormone IGF-1 isn’t added to EU milk). Thanks Polly, always an interesting read.

I stopped drinking milk about 2 years ago (I thought it was giving me stomach problems) I now drink soy and haven’t looked back since. When milk goes off it turns horrible, but do you feel the same way about cheese in that we shouldn’t have it? Also can you tell me if a ‘soy alternative’ actually has the same shelf-life as milk? I throw my soy away past the best before date but worry I am just wasting it?
