Friday Focus: Fitness Food and Style

Today I am really excited to share an interview with a beautiful lady called Dani from Fitnessfoodandstyle. Dani is a very busy wife and mum to 4, who finds time to work out, eat healthy and blog about it for her many readers and followers. I’ve been following her on Instagram for a while so if you’d like to find out how this hot mama (ahem..check out the bikini shot below!) does and has it all,  read on gorgeous one…you might learn something…


What is your health philosophy and what motivates you to live this way?

I love the fact that our children are young so they keep me motivated to keep in shape and lead a healthy lifestyle. I will be in my 60’s when we celebrate their 21st birthday, so I want to ensure I am the fittest and healthiest Mama!!!



What is your favourite go-to easy-to-make-in-minutes vegetarian or vegan snack or meal?

It would have to be hummus with fresh vegetables. I simply blend the chickpeas with tahini, sprinkle some paprika, salt & pepper, squeeze some lemon juice and whalla! My other faves are most definitely green and vegetable juices as I typically make those on the go when taking the kids to school.

I can tell from your blog and photos that you are a super busy mum of four! How do you manage to fit everything in and what would be your advice to mums like you that want to achieve more in their day?

Time management is key within my day. If I miss a load of washing or my hubby hasn’t unloaded the dishwasher for me, I am working 100mph to play catch up. In any case if you are swamped in your day, it’s okay to put your feel up and breathe as there is always something to do around the home/office.

My two tips would be;

1). Schedule your fitness before your day begins. So while hubby/partner is still home, do at least 15 minutes or when your baby is asleep or at kindagarten/school.

2). Meal planning. I ensure I do our weekly shop and write up our dinner on our chalkboard menu board (which is painted on the inside of our pantry door). So I am never fretting at 5pm wondering what’s for dinner each night!

Who are your food heroes and heroines?

Ohhhh I have so many. My Mum of course with all her amazing Serbian & Croatian dishes. Then there is Donna Hay, Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson, The Healthy Chef AKA Teresa Cutter. I could keep going…?!


If you were stuck on a desert island and could only take 6 foods with you, what would they be?

Almonds (I could turn them into almond butter & milk. Although I could drink the coconuts!!! assuming I had a solar powered blender with me ;o) )






What is your favourite way to exercise and what would you recommend someone that really struggles to exercise regularly?

With my jam packed days I am thankful I came across a 15 minutes per day fitness regime 5 years ago. It includes both resistance and interval training. I love it! Various body weight exercises from lunges to squats etc…all in the comfort of my own home.

You will find 15 minutes in your day once you start seeing your results. That’s what motivates me to exercise regularly.

I strongly encourage women who want to see REAL results to come visit my blog and check out the fitness program I follow. I have managed to get my body back after 4 of my pregnancies and highly recommend it.

What do you hope readers will take from your blog?

That if a Mum of 4 who used to live an unhealthy lifestyle can change and impact her young family in such a way, I hope to motivate and inspire my readers to do so as well. It’s so rewarding to read comments on how I have been able to make little changes in peoples lives all across the world!!!

What’s your favourite quote or source of inspiration?

I was given this quote by a girlfriend of mine when I was 16 years old!!! So to this day (yes 23 years later!!!) it is my most favorite quote.

“Look famous. Be legendary. Appear Complex. Act easy. Radiate presence. Travel light. Seem a dream. Prove real.”

I always loved quotes as a kid. Especially the ones found in BACI kiss chocolates (they were dark chocolates with hazelnut middles), they were so romantic and inspirational. I used to keep them in my Filofax and I’m sure if I look in my boxes somewhere I would be able to find those rice paper thin quotes. BTW can’t remember the last time I had one either :- P. Otherwise the other quotes I find are via various social media’s and then I’ll try and create my own!!!

Finally, what exciting things can we expect from Fitness food and style this year?

Besides my fun monthly challenges (which I’d love you all to join!) I’m thinking of setting up a Youtube channel!!! To show my readers how I cook, exercise etc….get a bit more personal with them as I absolutely love what I do and the comments that I receive daily, blow me away! I am truly humbled and I am so grateful I touch a lot of peoples lives across the globe with my journey. I really hope I can help others in anyway I can.
