I’m BACK! The 3 things I learned while on sabbatical & how it can help you

by Polly N on July 5, 2013

I’M BACK! And so happy about it! How have you been? I have missed you! My six weeks of sabbatical went by very quickly and while I loved it, I am really excited to be back in the blogosphere. I have lots to share with you so I hope you’ll be tuning in this summer to get my tips and motivation to living abundantly.

I am feeling REALLY excited about life for quite a few reasons but before I get into that, I want to share with you some insights that I gained during my “time off” that I hope will benefit you in your own life.

The first thing I want to address is how the Universe has completely supported me throughout my “time off”. I am one ambitious and driven gal so taking my foot off the gas was new and challenging for me! But what was so interesting for me (and while I already knew this and have experienced it’s wonder before) was how the Universe delivered some brilliant opportunities for me to grow my business and share my message of disease prevention and living consciously without me having to instigate anything at all. I will be able to share with you what one of those opportunities was in a few weeks so mark your diary for 21st July! (although I must admit, there was some instigation from my side of things a few months ago for that particular event.)

The second thing I noticed was how the Universe is bringing me invites and offers to events and engagements where I am forced to be accepting of how I look at the moment. I have no problem popping to the shops with my little bald head (yes I had to shave my head again) but seeing as my head currently resembles that of a rugrat, I went with the black wig and flat pumps thanks to a swollen ankle that is taking an age to heal! (Just to clarify, that isn’t all I wore. There was a long floaty dress involved as well!) I went to the Masterpiece Midsummer Party on Tuesday and had it been two years earlier and I looked and felt like I did in the photo you can see at the top of this page, I would have worn a sexy little number and some skyscraper heels! But no, not this time. At this point in my career and with the goals I am working on, my mean girl tells me this is not how I want to look! BAD TIMING CANCER! But then isn’t it always?! I do my best to keep my mean girl in check but clearly I have a bit more work to do which is fine as we are all working on ourselves constantly to be the best version of ourselves that we can. I feel that the Universe’s message to me is “Love yourself unconditionally”. Can you relate to this? What does your mean girl tell you and how to do you ‘deal with her’?

The third thing I want to share is how the more space I took for myself, the more enjoyable the present moment became. In the last few weeks I have really worked on perfecting my morning routine and with this gorgeous summer that has finally arrived I have taken to sitting outside in the garden on a bean bag with my feet on the grass for some grounding while I do some oil pulling and boil my coffee ready for my enema. (I shall blog on oil pulling soon so watch out for it.) During that time, I just sit and watch, take in the nature and marvel at how damn beautiful life is! Yes I know I am sounding a little “woo-woo” but I am trying to describe the excitement and love I am feeling for life at the moment which I believe is a result of taking a step back, being even more open to opportunities and whatever life wants to bring me and spending more time in stillness.

Here are some affirmations to help you turn things around or keep things ticking over nicely if you have felt or feel the same.

1. When you feel unsupported, add one of these to your list of affirmations:

“I am supported by life/the Universe/God/angels/”…whatever floats your boat.

“Life supports me”

“I trust that the Universe has got my back”

2. When your mean girl is telling you you’re not good enough or don’t have enough hair!

“I love my body, my body loves me “

“I love myself unconditionally “

“I am love “

3. When life is suffocating you or you’re in overwhelm or simply want to be reminded of stillness in a chaotic moment

“When I connect with stillness, I am one with all”

“I connect with the part of myself that is loving kindness”

” I release fear. I am love”

Some of these might be a little woo-woo for you if you’re new to this kind of thing but remember, everything has and is ENERGY. Everything you say or think has an effect on every single cell in your body which is why affirmations and positivity go such a long way to making you feel good! I wholeheartedly encourage you to devise your own affirmations with whatever works for you. There are just 2 rules:

1. You can’t get it wrong; trust your intuition and whatever phrase comes to mind and FEEL IT

2. Keep it positive and in the present tense

For those that need some help, I would recommend the gorgeous Gabrielle Bernstein’s fab app Spirit Junkie which sends you an affirmation each day on waking. You can check out the app here.

Is coconut oil sufficient for oil pulling? I’ve used that before and the subtle flavor is nice.

Also, who gets the credit for the girl.jpg photo? It’s gorgeous! I want to Pin it but want to give credit where it’s due. Thanks

Hi Anne, yes I use coconut oil with a dash of essential oil such as lemon or oregano. Can’t wait to write about it! Thanks for the heads up on the credit – have updated 😉

Hi Polly
Coming home from my bone density scan this morning , all of a sudden you popped into my mind, then I came home , opened my email and there you were. Really good to see you back. Can you maybe do an article about bone density as my scan wasn’t good despite all the green smoothies. (I am on letrozole btw and now have to take this other medication to prevent osteoporosis.)
Wishing all the best for you.

Hi Polly,

Sending you healing light.

Hi Polly,

How timely your affirmation chat is! Just the other day my brother passed this little gem of affirmation inspiration! You’ve maybe come across it already on youtube – Jessica’s “daily affirmation”.

Hi Polly,
I have come across your site through some of your wellness tribe over in Australia and I want to let you know how much I believe reading about your own travels with health can influence those around you. I have recommended yours as a group of blogs and sites for my own clients to head to for support as so many are not aware of how large this wellness community is. It’s bookmarked for me! Sending you great vibes across the ocean.
