Latest health update and shop SALE!

by Polly N on November 11, 2013

Today I turn 32 – it’s my birthday! And when I celebrate, it means that you get to celebrate too so read on to find out how you can get your hands on some awesome prizes and make savings on some shop products.

I have been so busy working away behind the scenes on something VERY big and incredibly exciting (which I promise to tell you more about in a few weeks but just know it’s beautiful and life-changing) that I’ve not really given you an update on how I’m doing so here it goes:

So the last 2 years have been pretty rough. If you caught my last update, you’ll know I was hospitalised last year and had a lot of fluid removed from my chest wall in a short space of time. Shortly after leaving hospital, I decided to start a course of chemo as the cancer in my lungs needed bringing under control. (I’d just like to clarify, this isn’t “lung cancer” per se, but a metastases of my original cervical cancer that has taken up residence in my lungs.) I had several sessions of chemo over the course of 2-3 months and then took a break of a few months before restarting again, which I’ve pretty much done all year. Admittedly it’s not ideal to keep having to spend months of my life trekking into hospital every other week for a reduced dose but so far it has been doing the trick alongside my other daily practices that are staples for my wellbeing. My integrative doctor, Dr Kate James, suggested the chemo was administered as a third of the dose to help me adjust more easily.

So far so good. Although I’m mid-chemo cycle, my mind is telling that I should be recovering faster and that this time around, getting back to what I call my “self” is taking longer than usual.  Maybe it is taking me longer? My body has and still is going through a lot so everyday I have to work on accepting where I am right now. My health may not be at 100% right now but I am on the road to getting there and that’s what counts. It doesn’t really matter how long it takes for me to “get there”. I realise that my mind has created an end destination of “get there” making it even more important thing is just being where I am so that’s what Im focussing on right now. That and my big beautiful life changing project launching soon!

I’m also raring to start a new pioneering treatment late January which I will tell you more about once I’ve started and can give you more information.

Like I said above, it is my birthday so here’s what I’m giving away:

Hi Polly,
Happy Birthday !! I hope you’re having a wonderful day :)
Just wanted to say how much I love reading your blog, it’s so inspiring and informative, but more than that I really love how positive and open you are about your health, your choices, what and how you eat etc.
I’ve had m.e for a long time and I’ve always found it difficult to talk about my illness, how it affects me, how natural medicine has helped, why I avoid wheat/sugar etc. I’ve just wanted to “fit in” and be like everyone else, but through reading your blog and others I am feeling a lot better. Its good to be different !! So thank you so much :)
Take care,
Catherine xx
p.s I am so glad you found Dominique helpful, she’s lovely isn’t she ? The post you wrote about Sophrology was brilliant – if anyone asks me about it I will refer them to your blog !

Happy Be-Lated Birthday! It’s good that you can be so honest about your journey but I completely understand the frustration with having an end destination in mind when we know in reality, it doesn’t exist! We should know better but hey we’re only human, eh?

Quite intrigued now to what this mystery is!
