Ditch the New Year Resolutions – do this instead!

Happy New Year! I love the new year because it is filled with the possibility of so much promise of what could happen in the next twelve months. I always make plans and goals so I know what I want to achieve on a personal and professional level so I normally know what’s coming up but then there is also the possibility of exciting opportunities that come as surprises. I love them! One of my favourite affirmations is “I am open and receptive to all opportunities and possibilities that I may receive”


And of course, I add everything I have planned to my vision board so that I have a constant reminder of what I want to call into my life. Have you ever made a vision board? They are basically a way of attracting to you what you wish to have or experience in your life. The mind is a very powerful tool if you know how to use it! This time of year is always associated with making resolutions and while I think it’s great to set new goals and intentions, this year I’m taking a new approach. I have had a pretty manic few years working on this blog, working as a health coach with a tonne of clients, launching The Noble Kitchen in our juice bar The Core Swindon Holistic Bar & Lounge all while managing my cancer! And now I feel it’s time to take a little step back – don’t worry I’m not going anywhere, I’ll still be blogging regularly and working on book no 2 but it’s time for me to slow down. I’ve been feeling the call for a little while now and as I follow my own advice of self-care and self-love, I must take action to listen to what my heart and soul are crying out for right now. So as much as I will miss the amazing people I get to work with, I’ve decided I won’t be working one-on-one with any clients anymore and instead have poured everything I teach and advise my clients with into The Conscious Life Guide, which is where I will still be providing support but in a much more relaxed and less intensive way.

So instead of setting a load of resolutions, I have chosen two words that will be my guiding force this year and will be my reminders of how I want to be this year. Those words are “Ease”, as in less pushing, (which I have a tendency to do as an ambitious and driven lady!), and “Acceptance” – more acceptance of the things I cannot change. I think the Serenity Prayer says this beautifully.



These words just feel right to me and I have them plastered over my vision board, written and printed out in my bathroom and across my desk!
