If you’ve been following me for a while, you may know that I am a lover of fresh juice and often post my recipes over at my facebook page, (which I don’t post here on the blog.) When I first started out eating a cleaner plant-based diet several years ago, smoothies were something that took me a long time to master. I made some absolutely awful tasting drinks but forced them down because of the sheer volume of superfoods I had added to them and didn’t want to waste! But then I found a formula that worked which I want to share with you here so you can benefit from sipping on a smoothie of your own.
I’ve find the key is not to overdo the superfoods and start by adding one thing at a time.
I just want to clear something up though; juices are different to smoothies;
Juice; when you juice, you extract all the vitamins, minerals and enzymes from the fruit or vegetable producing a non-pulpy liquid. For this you use a juice extractor – I personally use and recommend the Tribest Green Star Elite and the Matstone.
Smoothie; A smoothie combines produce (either just fruit (not recommended because of the sugar content), vegetables or a combination of fruit and vegetables producing a blended drink which provides much more fibre unlike the juice. To make this, you would use a high-speed blender such as a Vitamix.
Here’s an infographic from my lifestyle coaching program, The Conscious Life Guide to give you a helping hand. Feel free to right click, save it to your computer and print it off or share with your friends on social media!
